A customer recently contacted 24/7 Services for sewer service in McHenry, IL after experiencing a blockage in a common drain line. Our team investigated the problem using sewer camera equipment and rodding to determine what was preventing the line from flowing properly.
Our technicians televised the common drain and made multiple attempts to rod the sewer line. During the inspection, we identified a damaged section of sanitary sewer piping that was contributing to the blockage.
To make the necessary repair, our team excavated to a depth of approximately five feet and exposed the damaged sewer line. We removed approximately five feet of deteriorated corrugated pipe and replaced it with new PVC piping.
We connected the new PVC using heavy-duty non-shear couplings and properly bedded it in gravel. We also installed a new cleanout to provide easier access to the sewer line for future inspections, cleaning, or maintenance.
After completing the pipe repair, our team hydro jetted the remaining sewer line to remove buildup and restore proper flow. We then televised the sewer again to inspect the piping and check for additional concerns before backfilling the excavation.
This combination of sewer camera inspection, excavation, pipe replacement, hydro jetting, and final inspection allowed our team to address the damaged section while evaluating the condition of the remaining sewer line.
